1. Preparation Before Proceeding:
- Ensure that you have a new Admin with an active Microsoft 365 Family account to continue managing the group and maintain access for all family members.
2. Guide to Transfer Microsoft 365 Family Admin Rights from the Old Admin to the New Admin Without Affecting Members:
- Log in to the Old Admin account and visit the Microsoft family page at https://account.microsoft.com/family/home.
- Select "Add a family member", enter the email of the New Admin, choose "Family organizer", and send the invitation.
- The New Admin logs in to their email and accepts the invitation to join the family.
-
Once the New Admin has been added, there are two options for transferring admin rights:
- Option 1: The Old Admin accesses family settings, scrolls to the bottom, and selects "Leave family".
- Option 2: The New Admin can directly remove the Old Admin from the family via the family management page.
- The New Admin should check the family page to ensure they are the only Family Organizer and that all members are still listed.
3. Post-Transfer Checklist:
- Ask family members to sign out and sign back into their Microsoft accounts to refresh their access.
- Verify that applications such as Word, Excel, and OneDrive are functioning normally for all members.
